One of the pitfalls of having a larger music library is not having the time to get back to all the bands and albums that you’d like to. I was flipping through my library specifically to see who I hadn’t been listening to for a while, and bingo – there was the J Geils Band. I don’t know that the J. Geils Band gets the broad appreciation it deserves, so here’s small chance to rectify that.
Bloodshot was released in 1973, and was an instant hit in our crowd. This album has it all – great guitar, great harmonica, keyboards, gritty vocals, bass & percussion supporting a great mix of rockers, R&B, funk & fun. It reminds me of the times when really good bar bands had killer sets that got the place jumping. And, of course, it was the soundtrack of many good house parties of the mid ’70’s especially given the opening track.
Take some time out of your day, grab the refreshment of your choice, sit in your comfy chair & give this puppy a full spin. You will be rewarded.
Great album. The vinyl record came in blood red. Still have it.
