Released in November 1974, this was Supertramp’s third album and their commercial breakthrough.
The production on this album is excellent. The sound through our stereos at high volume was amazing! It also came through loud & clear on our car stereos. How “School” built up was a great start to the album. We were hooked.
“School”, “Hide in Your Shell”, “Rudy,” & “Dreamer” were our go to songs, and found their way onto our mixed tapes. I still find myself pulling these onto various playlists. The full album, though, is a great listen. At times, I hear echoes of Audience, 10CC and Pink Floyd which add to my listening enjoyment.
I always find it interesting how different countries adopt albums. While this album reached #38 in the US and #4 in the UK and Canada, it stayed in the Canadian album charts for two years (72 weeks) and sold over one million copies, which is significant given the smaller population.
