Jeff Beck – Truth

Jeff Beck – Truth

How can you go wrong with Jeff Beck, Rod Stewart & Ron Wood in their primes?  Not to mention contributions from John Paul Jones, Keith Moon, Nicky Hopkins & Jimmy Page on certain songs.

Truth was released in 1968 and is a great example of British blues rock.  I think it’s very cool to compare this with what was going on at the time in San Francisco.  A great era in rock music!

This is an album that showcases different styles of songs, all expertly done as you would expect from these excellent artists.  Jeff Beck’s guitar brilliance is perfectly paired with Rod Stewart’s vocals.  The cover songs are strong and faithful reflections, with “Morning Dew” being extended into a crying guitar rocker.  I love that song!  The original songs are shining examples of how young musicians were evolving the blues into the rock music we would see in the late ’60’s & early ’70’s.  These guys led the way.

I enjoy putting the headphones on, and letting this album drive me through bluesville.
