“Turn Me Loose” by Loverboy came on the radio the other day, and I went into a bit of a nostalgic haze. I recall that song came out during a bit of a heyday with harder Canadian rock being quite prevalent on the radio and in the bars. This was a time of friends getting together frequently, hitting the bars or a house party or seven, and these songs were often in the background. I wasn’t a big fan of all the songs, but they are very much reminders of a fun time, when we met all our responsibilities while also having a very good time. I am so glad that the phone camera had not yet been invented!
So, I thought it would be fun to create a playlist of that period, using Canadian bands exclusively. Certainly, some of these bands had more than one hit during the time, but in the interests of playlist brevity, I’m limiting it to one song per band. Perhaps the other hits will show up in future playlists.
