I was thinking of Duane Allman, and what a great guitarist he was. I was looking at assembling a tribute playlist of notable performances such as Layla. As I looked through the material, it became evident to me that although he shone in session work, he stood out best when his band stood out best, and that took me straight to this album.
I am so jealous of the folks who were lucky enough to have attended this concert. This was the Allman Brothers Band in their prime, with such a rocking show that blended blues, rock, country with a touch of jazz styling in their jamming. Every member of the band was on, resulting in a tight, tasteful live performance extravaganza.
