Foghat – Energized

Foghat – Energized

Sometimes you just want to rock out & have fun without having to deal with any big issues.  Foghat can provide that soundtrack.  Crank that stereo, crack that beer, flop back into that deck lounger & enjoy.

Born out of the great blues rock of Savoy Brown in 1971, Foghat emerged on the scene with their first album, Foghat, in 1972, displaying a great talent for blues & boogie rock.  They have had quite a bit of success sticking to their good time boogie formula, having many of their albums and singles hitting the Billboard charts.  Unfortunately, time has taken its toll, as founding members Lonesome Dave Peverett and Rod Price have passed on.  RIP.

Many sites will suggest that Fool For The City is their best album.  It is their second best selling album, behind Foghat Live.  It is a good one, and my second favourite, narrowly behind Energized.  Energized just keeps sustaining that good time boogie rock feel & showcases their guitar talents so well.  Here’s a 1974 review from Rolling Stone magazine after the album was released.  I certainly wasn’t intending on staving off any glam rock invasion, being a big T. Rex and Bowie fan, and there’s plenty of room at the rock table for all manner of artists.  Enjoy!
