I’m thinking of the summer and how that will likely be very different from previous summers. Large gatherings are likely to be less frequent, if they happen at all. This means that many celebrations will change from what they were. One of these will be folk festivals.
One of my best summer memories is attending our city’s folk festival in the dog days of summer. We used to go every year, but haven’t made the last few (vagaries of life!). This was a three day affair, opening Friday evening and closing Sunday night with a big centre stage affair. There was a main stage and two other stages. With the exception of the evening shows, there were artists performing on all three stages, so you had to be picky on who you wanted to see. Usually one stage was set aside for the more eclectic acts. There were also many food, merchandise & craft stands to browse. Everyone was in a good mood, and more often than not, the weather cooperated.
It was a great time, with fellowship & great, diverse music. Here’s long playlist in that vein to stretch out your day in a folk festival way. I’ve gathered a very diverse cast of artists, and created four song sets for each. You can listen by set list or shuffle it up for a very eclectic mix. I hope this adds a little joy to your day.
