Tangerine Dream – Soundtrack to Sorcerer

Tangerine Dream – Soundtrack to Sorcerer

When thinking about what album to focus on, I was in more of an atmospheric mood, so I started going through the albums I have that are more ethereal and electronic in nature.  I set my library on Album View mode and started scrolling through.  I was going to let the “mood & album art karma” model do the selecting for me.

I stopped at the soundtrack for the movie Sorcerer by Tangerine Dream.  This brought back a bunch of memories!  Directed by William Friedkin (The French Connection, The Exorcist) and released in 1977 (and completely overwhelmed by the release of Star Wars one week earlier), this was one of those “one showing only matinee movies on a Sunday” that our theatre ran.  It’s a pretty dark, suspenseful, entertaining movie and Tangerine Dream’s soundtrack was a perfect match for the movie.  I recall we really enjoyed that movie that Sunday afternoon, and I set out to search for the music.

Now I appreciate that Tangerine Dream’s music is an acquired taste, and that soundtrack albums can be really quirky, so I wanted a Side B to this Album of the Week.  Enter Pink Floyd
