I wanted to keep the general atmospheric mood in play that resulted in Tangerine Dream (corresponding post here), so I kept that in mind as I re-scrolled through the Album View. I hit Pink Floyd, and “Welcome to the Machine” fit the bill!
Wish You Were Here was the follow-up to Dark Side of the Moon and contains a tribute to founding member Syd Barrett as well as cynical comments on the state of the music business. It’s a well crafted album that holds its own against Dark Side of the Moon. I purchased a half speed master copy on vinyl when it came out, and it sounded terrific on my stereo, especially at volumes that disturbed my parents & the neighbours. But, I’m sure they were content with the sacrifice in the name of fine music 🙂
