This is a good ol’ blues rocker of an album. It’s largely cover material and quite typical of the time. However, this is all about enjoyment of an album rather than where it ranks in originality. For me, this is quite an enjoyable album. If you’re a guitar nut, there’s enough here to put a smile on your face.
The title track is a gospel-tinged rocker and is the only song from Pacific Gas & Electric I suspect most people are familiar with. It is a very, very worthy song that stands the test of time. The rest of the album showcases great guitar work, strong vocals & a good supporting bottom end. There are hard rockers and soul & country influenced songs. I don’t mind how this flows at all. And like many of the albums of the time, it’s less than 40 minutes long so you’re not necessarily invested for too long 🙂
Oh, there’s also a gherkin on the cover. Do we dare go for More Gherkin, a la more cowbell?
Enjoy!
