Rosalie Cunningham

Rosalie Cunningham

Take a blender and whirr up a mixture of Sgt. Peppers, Kate Bush, Goth, Psychedelia, Vaudeville & Carnival music.  This is what you get.  And it’s very, very good!  It’s heartening to hear new music being made that builds from a varied heritage and enhances today’s musical landscape.

This is Rosalie Cunningham’s first album as an individual artist, and builds on the time she spent in previous bands (Purson, Ipso Facto).  There is a lot to take in on this album, with crisp guitar, often with plenty of fuzz and a little wah wah, keyboards, horns and great vocals and lyrics.  The song styles range from vaudevillian ballads to outright psychedelia, with stops in prog rockville and Penny Lane.  You even get a vibrant album cover that harkens back to the best of the ’60’s psychedelic concert posters.

For me, this is an enjoyable headphones on, end-to-end listen.  Hope you enjoy it, too
