I talk about my album selection process elsewhere on this site. I didn’t know this band, so I looked to see where they were from. I couldn’t tell that, but the album was recorded in Jamaica, so I thought they could be British. The album art was cool, and the album itself was cut on two corners. I was hooked by the quirkiness, so I took a chance and bought it. In hindsight, a pretty wise choice – led me to their prior album “Low Spark of High Heeled Boys” and delving into Steve Winwood’s career.
This album flows very well across different styles. It is a great album to put on and enjoy beginning to end. I recall at first that I was somewhat disappointed that the album was not heavier (in keeping with my tastes at the time), however, I kept listening to it rather than shelving it. It crept in through a crack in my teenage monolithic tastes and helped expand those tastes.
